This weekend I did the last part og the last course to become a recognised leader (?) with the new leader training programme they launched some years ago. When I was there, I found out that I wouldn't be quite finished yet, but I'll be very very close.
We met up Friday, were divided into pratrols of five and then we were told to make our own patrole trip. We got some rules we had to follow and in the end we had a route and everything. So the next morning we decided what to eat and who should carry what, and off we went.
We had wonderful sunny weather the whole weekend, it could have been colder during the day, but no matter. On Sunday it was almost too warm, almost like eraly summer. Nice! But we got to sleep outside in a lavvo and we really got to know each other. Just as we got to know the "Scout method" as we call it in Norway:
- make use of the patrole method (patruljemetoden)
- be outdoors (friluftsliv)
- seremonies, games and framework (sermonier, rammer og lek)
- learning by doing (learning by doing)
- all should participate and deside (medbestemmelse og ansvar)
- social responsibility (samfunnsengasjement)
And suddenly I can't remember the two last. Embarrasing. I need to check it out and come back to you.
The next thing on my scout shedule, I think, must be the rover clan meeting in a week and after that the "spring cleaning" (where we mostly clean, chop wood and chop trees) at the studen scout cabin the weekend after that.
